Sierra Chincua

Surprise!!! I came to the high Sierras of Mexico for the largest butterfly migration on the world - the Monarchs at the World Heritage Site in Michoacán 🐛🇲🇽 after two days of driving and two flights from Florida and the 3000 m climb up into the Sierras of Mexico I finally reached the bucket list item inspired by my friend Matthew - this is a world heritage site in Mexico- the largest migration of Monarch Butterflies arrive by the millions in November and leave in March... after watching the movie "Flight of the Butterflies" 3 years ago I made this trip a bucket list item - although they are not birds they were a magical sight as the sun came out and warmed up their wings, then they filled the skies above me!! Glorious day! Check out storyline for many more videos!

In the Ejido El Capulin monarch #Butterfly reserve two hours outside of #MexicoCity, the forest floor is covered with butterflies... Some have made the multi thousand mile journey from #Canada to mate and then die- but others are in a state of mini hibernation if you will. They are cold blooded creatures and so huddle together for warmth. When the sun starts to come out some will try to fly too soon and land on the forest floor until they regain enough warmth to take off. It is hard to walk in this forest. I'm afraid I may have committed butterfly manslaughter today 😬. #abroadabroad #Mexico #nature #naturetravel #naturelovers THANK YOU TO www.themuddyboot.org for organizing the most mind blowing trip EVER
